This
is the original Pierces Store around 1900.
Pierces Pepsteppers could often be seen playing their exciting
brand of old country fiddle music on the well worn porch or across
the road in the barn. The
music would reverberate throughout
the neighborhood into the wee hours, and many people still today
recall the magical voices of the fiddles, banjos, and guitars
delightfully echoing their hopeful melodies in the otherwise serene,
and somewhat bleak, northern landscape.
Familiar
old tunes such as Cripple Creek and Old Joe Clark
and Mississippi Sawyer,
as well as archaic
old melodies learned from original 78 records, from Texas, Alabama,
Mississippi, Georgia, were the mainstay
of the PEPSTEPPERS, and this disc is a wonderful sampling of their
rare, original recordings.
